Sissonville has gone 8-2 against Nitro recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Thursday. Jozey Wilson spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on two hits and racked up 15 Ks. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't tossed less than eight strikeouts in 14 consecutive appearances.
At the plate, the team relied heavily on Lydia Ellis, who fired off two home runs, three runs, and three RBI while going 2-for-2. Those two home runs gave her a new career-high.
Meanwhile, Nitro lost 10-2 to Ripley on Tuesday.
Nitro saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Zoe Hyatt, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.
Nitro's defeat dropped their record down to 5-16. As for Sissonville, their victory bumped their record up to 14-3.
Nitro's hitters will have their work cut out for them on Thursday. Sissonville has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 11.1 strikeouts per game. It's a different story for Nitro, though, as they've been averaging an even more impressive 3.1 strikeouts. Will Sissonville keep running through batters, or will the Wildcats buck the trend?
Everything went Sissonville's way against Nitro in their previous matchup back in March, as Sissonville made off with a 9-0 win. Will the Indians repeat their success, or do the Wildcats have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
