The Cross Trojans will be home for the holidays to greet the Riverpointe Christian Academy Wolves at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the pair will really light up the scoreboard.
Last Monday, Cross came up short against Stratford and fell 76-66. It was the first time this season that Cross let down their fans at home.
Despite the defeat, Cross had strong showings from Caden Ramsey, who dropped a double-double on 23 points and 16 rebounds, and Jamez Way, who scored 25 points along with five steals. The game was Way's seventh in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Lavell Joyner, who scored six points.
Meanwhile, Riverpointe Christian Academy was just a bucket shy of victory on Friday and fell 57-56 to Northwood Academy. Riverpointe Christian Academy has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Kevin Dukes Jr, who dropped a double-double on 17 points and ten rebounds. He scored a full 30.4% of Riverpointe Christian Academy's points, the third time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Alante Manigo Jr, who scored six points along with six assists and five steals.
Even though they lost, Riverpointe Christian Academy were working as a unit and finished the game with 15 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.
Cross' loss ended a five-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 5-2. As for Riverpointe Christian Academy, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-5.
This contest is shaping up to be a blowout: Cross hasn't had any problem running up the score this season, having only averaged 70.7 points per game. However, it's not like Riverpointe Christian Academy struggles in that department as they've been averaging only 53.6 points per game.
