Given Ida Baker's advantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 248th, while Riverdale is ranked 562nd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Ida Baker's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Maia Berdebes, who dropped a double-double on 15 points and ten assists. Berdebes has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last ten times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Julianna Nieves, who scored 13 points along with two steals.
Ida Baker has been performing well recently as they've won eight of their last ten contests, which provided a nice bump to their 11-4 record this season. As for Riverdale, they are on a ten-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-12.
Ida Baker will be playing at home against Island Coast at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Island Coast is coming into the matchup on a three-game losing streak. As for Riverdale, they will head out on the road to take on Cypress Lake at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Cypress Lake will be looking to extend their current four-game winning streak.
