The Wilmington Wildcats entered their tilt with the Gardner-South Wilmington Panthers with three consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with four. Wilmington walked away with a 52-44 victory over Gardner-South Wilmington on Tuesday. That's another feather in the cap for Wilmington, who also won these teams' last head-to-head.
Wilmington got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Ryan Kettman out in front who scored six points along with nine rebounds and seven steals. Kettman also posted two blocks for the first time this season. Another player making a difference was Lucas Rink, who scored 15 points along with five rebounds.
Wilmington has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight matches, which provided a nice bump to their 16-7 record this season. As for Gardner-South Wilmington, they dropped their record down to 7-19 with that loss, which was their ninth straight on the road.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Wilmington and Streator will face off at 7:00 p.m. on February 7th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Wilmington will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Illinois Rankings (they are ranked 357th, while Streator is ranked 126th). As for Gardner-South Wilmington, they will look to defend their home court on Friday against Grace Christian Academy at 5:30 p.m.
