If the Sultana Sultans were riding high off their 81-37 takedown of the Excelsior Charter Eagles last Friday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. Sultana fell 52-42 to Burroughs on Wednesday. Sultana has not had much luck with Burroughs recently, as the team's come up short the last seven times they've met.
Several Sultans players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Kenyon Peters, who scored 11 points. Alec Rodriguez was another key contributor, scoring eight points along with five rebounds.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Burroughs to victory, but perhaps none more so than Jeffrey Brady, who scored ten points along with five rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Trevor Rowland, who scored nine points along with five assists and four steals.
Sultana's defeat dropped their record down to 5-12. As for Burroughs, their win ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 8-6.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Sultana will take on Oak Hills at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Oak Hills knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past ten games -- so hopefully Sultana likes a good challenge. As for Burroughs, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Hesperia at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Hesperia is looking to tack on another W to their five-game streak on the road.
