The Kennard-Dale Rams will venture away from home to take on the Spring Grove Rockets at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. Kennard-Dale is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.2 runs per game this season.
Spring Grove will be up against a hot Kennard-Dale squad: the team just extended their winning streak to three. Kennard-Dale came within a single run of losing the streak, but they secured a 3-2 W against Trinity.
Taryn Ashenfelter spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered two runs (both of which were unearned) on five hits and racked up nine Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one earned run any time she's pitched this season.
On the hitting side, Kennard-Dale saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Elaina Zabkowski, who went 1-for-2 with one RBI.
Spring Grove never got on the board in their matchup on Wednesday, but that sure wasn't the case in their game against York Suburban last Friday. They put the hurt on the Trojans with a sharp 18-3 victory. The Rockets' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.
London Parks was a standout: she went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, three runs, and four RBI. Those hits were her first of the season. The team also got some help courtesy of Jozalynn Hartman, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs.
Spring Grove hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as York Suburban struck out six times.
Kennard-Dale's record now sits at 3-1. As for Spring Grove, the win got them back to even at 2-2.
Spring Grove's hitters will have their work cut out for them on Monday. Kennard-Dale has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 12.8 strikeouts per game.
