The Lincoln County Panthers won a close one the last time they played, but unfortunately they suffered a serious change of fortune on Tuesday. They were the victim of a tough 64-44 loss at the hands of Winfield. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Lincoln County in their matchups with the Generals: they've now lost four in a row.
Despite the defeat, Lincoln County had strong showings from Eli Smith, who scored 18 points, and Wyatt Edwards, who scored 14 points.
Lincoln County's loss was their seventh straight at home, which dropped their record down to 4-11. As for Winfield, their win bumped their record up to 4-9.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Lincoln County will square off against the Bison at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Buffalo focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up eight last Monday. Winfield will be staying on the road on Friday to face off against the Tigers at 7:00 p.m. on February 2nd. Chapmanville Regional presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than the Generals in West Virginia (the Tigers are ranked 19th, while the Generals are ranked 71st).
