Middle Park extended their losing streak to six on Monday, dropping them down to 0-6. They fell 8-4 to the Clear Creek Golddiggers. Panthers fans who chose to attend the game sure picked the wrong one: it was the first time the team has lost against the Golddiggers since Monday.
Diogui Laynes put in work no matter where he played. On the mound, he tossed 3.2 innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off four hits. Laynes was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with two doubles, one stolen base, and one run. Those doubles were his first of the season.
In other batting news, Liam Gray was cooking despite his team's loss, going 3-for-4 with one home run, two stolen bases, and three runs. He also put up a double, which was his first of the season.
As for Clear Creek, they now have a winning record of 3-2. The game was the first time they have beaten Middle Park on their field since May 2, 2019.
Like Middle Park, Clear Creek also got a great game from a two-way player: Zephyrus Schuessler. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out 11 batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned (and three unearned) runs off five hits (and only one walk). Schuessler has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in four consecutive appearances. He was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with one home run, two stolen bases, and three RBI.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Wyatt Huff, who went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases, two RBI, and one run. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in April of 2025. Another player making a difference was Blake Weichel, who went 1-for-3 with one triple, one run, and one RBI.
Coming up, Middle Park will face off against Alameda at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Panthers' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Pirates have averaged an impressive 13.8 runs per game this season. As for Clear Creek, they will square off against Denver Academy at 4:00 p.m. on Monday.
