Meanwhile, Highlands gave their fans exactly what they wanted out of a home opener on Tuesday. They were the clear victors by a 15-1 margin over Leechburg.
Madison Gorney and Alexis Arms were a major factor no matter where they played. On the mound, Gorney tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Meanwhile, Arms pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. At the plate, Gorney scored two runs and stole a base while going 1-for-1, while Arms scored three runs and stole two bases while going 2-for-3.
In other batting news, Carrah Scardina was excellent, scoring a run while going 2-for-3. The team also got some help courtesy of Gabby Chambers, who scored three runs while going 1-for-3.
Highlands was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .452. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Leechburg only posted a batting average of .143.
