The King Lions suffered their biggest defeat yet this season on Tuesday. They ended up on the wrong side of a tough 75-50 walloping at the hands of Jesuit. While losing is never fun, King can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 329th, while Jesuit is ranked 71st).
King's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Julien Barnett, who dropped a double-double on 19 points and 13 rebounds, and Jabriel Hakim who scored 16 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Andreas Jackson, who scored two points along with ten rebounds.
Leading Jesuit to victory were Tyler Caouette and Nate Boakye. Caouette scored 14 points along with nine rebounds and three steals, while Boakye scored 22 points along with seven rebounds and three steals. Boakye is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last ten games he's played. Morty Hanlon was another key contributor, scoring nine points along with six steals.
King has been struggling recently, as they've lost six of their last eight matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 9-9 record this season. As for Jesuit, the victory makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 14-5.
King won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Chamberlain at 8:00 p.m. on January 17th. Chamberlain is hoping to put an end to a four-game streak of away losses. As for Jesuit, they will head out on the road to face off against Tampa Catholic at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. That game will pit two of the most dominant guards against one another: Isaiah Campbell-Finch and Boakye.
