Awaken Christian is 1-9 against Lake Mead Academy since February of 2019 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Awaken Christian Lions will play host again and welcome the Lake Mead Academy Eagles, where tip off is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, both teams will really light up the scoreboard.
Awaken Christian scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Wednesday. They breezed by American Heritage Academy at home to the tune of 88-53. Awaken Christian has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won six matchups by 23 points or more this season.
Awaken Christian relied on the efforts of Jadon Kenney, who scored 31 points along with five rebounds, and Gavin Kepler, who scored 26 points along with nine rebounds and five assists. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Kepler has scored all season. Billy Kepler was another key contributor, dropping a double-double on 15 points and 12 rebounds.
Meanwhile, Lake Mead Academy ended up a good deal behind Democracy Prep Agassi Campus two weeks ago and lost 74-59.
Despite the defeat, Lake Mead Academy got a solid performance out of Gavin Cummins, who scored 22 points along with seven rebounds and two steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Jaylen Hardy, who scored ten points along with seven rebounds.
Awaken Christian's win bumped their record up to 10-6. As for Lake Mead Academy, their loss dropped their record down to 13-5.
Some high-performance offense is likely on the agenda as the two teams are some of the highest scoring teams in the league. Awaken Christian hasn't had any problem running up the score this season, having averaged 57.4 points per game. However, it's not like Lake Mead Academy struggles in that department as they've been averaging 67.6 points per game. With both teams so easily able to put up points, the only question left is who can run the score up higher.
