AAA Region 8 recap Oct. 23, 2012
North Oconee extended the longest winning streak in AAA Region 8 this week by beating Elbert County, 27-26. This was the team's sixth consecutive win.
Morgan County took down East Jackson 36-10 last week, the largest margin of any game.
Jackson County's offense has been unstoppable this season and the Panthers feature the season leaders in passing, rushing and receiving yards. Kyle Daniel has thrown for 1055 yards and 13 touchdowns this season, while Xavier Harper has 26 catches for 545 yards. Dustin Scott leads the league in rushing with 515 yards.
A big matchup in the league this week will be when North Oconee takes on the Eagles. As it stands, the Titans are in first, while East Jackson is in eighth.
Oconee County made the biggest jump in the national rankings this week, rising to 9,599 from 10,147. The advance stemmed from a 49-33 victory over Franklin County last week.
