The Live Oak Acorns will look to take advantage of their home field for the first time this season as they take on the Valley Christian Warriors at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Live Oak will be looking to extend their current four-game winning streak dating back to last season.
Live Oak proved they can win big on Saturday (they won by seven) and on Saturday they proved they can win the close ones too. They had just enough and edged out Gilroy 4-3.
Maya Medina spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and one unearned) runs on four hits and racked up six Ks.
On the hitting side, Eden Svoboda and Kayla Tulowitski did most of the damage at the plate: Svoboda scored two runs while going 2-for-4, while Tulowitski scored two runs while going 2-for-4. Ava Chapman was another key player, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with one double and one RBI.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Valley Christian, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Monday. Their pitchers stepped up to hand Milpitas a 14-0 shutout on Tuesday. The contest marked the Warriors' most dominant victory of the season so far.
Keimana Agnew looked comfortable as she tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit.
At the plate, Valley Christian let Shyla Paredes and Soledad Healy run wild. Paredes scored three runs while going 2-for-3, while Healy scored three runs while going 2-for-3. Paredes also hit a double, marking her first of the season. Another player making a difference was Makenzie Leon, who scored a run while going 2-for-3.
Valley Christian always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .600. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Milpitas only posted an OBP of .125.
Valley Christian's win bumped their record up to 4-1. As for Live Oak, their victory bumped their record up to 3-0.
Live Oak beat Valley Christian 3-0 in their previous matchup back in March of 2023. Does Live Oak have another victory up their sleeve, or will Valley Christian turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
