The Adams Central Patriots will head out to take on the Seward Bluejays at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Adams Central is coming into the match hot, having won their last seven games.
Adams Central proved they can win big on Thursday (they won by ten) and on Friday they proved they can win the close ones too. They had just enough and edged out Norfolk 3-1.
Nick Mousel was excellent, scoring a run while going 2-for-3.
Meanwhile, Seward was not the first on the board on Monday, but they got there more often. They put the hurt on Pius X with a sharp 11-5 win. The game was the first time the Bluejays have beaten the Thunderbolts on their field since April 8, 2019.
Brycen Burt spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered five earned runs on nine hits and racked up eight Ks.
At the plate, the team relied heavily on Kyle Riley, who got on base in all five of his plate appearances with one home run and two runs. That home run was his first of the season. Keyan Schadwinkel was another key player, going 3-for-5 with one triple, two RBI, and one run.
Seward was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .486. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their batting average total in six consecutive contests.
Seward has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five games. That's provided a massive bump to their 7-5 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.0 runs over those games. As for Adams Central, their win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 11-3.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Tuesday as neither team is afraid to steal. Adams Central has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 5 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Seward struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 3.8 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Adams Central came up short against Seward in their previous matchup back in April of 2024, falling 10-5. Can the Patriots avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
