The SouthWest Edgecombe Cougars lost against the Farmville Central Jaguars back in December of 2023, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. SouthWest Edgecombe had to suffer through a rough 83-41 loss at the hands of the Jaguars. SouthWest Edgecombe was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 52-19.
Despite the loss, SouthWest Edgecombe still got an impressive performance from Xander Brown, who scored 17 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Ricky Smith, who scored five points along with two steals.
Hampton Evans was his usual excellent self, scoring 21 points for Farmville Central. Another player making a difference was Tyler Whitehurst, who scored 15 points.
SouthWest Edgecombe has been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 10-9 record this season. As for Farmville Central, the victory (which was their tenth in a row) raised their record to 17-1.
SouthWest Edgecombe will head out on the road to face off against the Rams at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Averaging 60.11 points so far this season, Greene Central's high-powered offense has been in full-swing lately, so the Cougars better be ready for a challenge. As for Farmville Central, they will be playing in front of their home fans against the Chargers at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Ayden - Grifton will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps North Carolina Rankings (they are ranked 336th, while the Jaguars are ranked 22nd).
