Chesapeake Math & IT Academy North has been on the road for four straight, but on Tuesday they'll finally head home. They will take on the Surrattsville Hornets at 7:15 p.m. on Tuesday. Both teams come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Even though Chesapeake Math & IT Academy South scored an imposing 61 points on Thursday, Chesapeake Math & IT Academy North still came out on top. Chesapeake Math & IT Academy North walked away with a 71-61 victory over Chesapeake Math & IT Academy South.
Chesapeake Math & IT Academy North's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Amir Morton led the charge by scoring 17 points along with six rebounds and two steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Morton has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Micah Germain, who scored 16 points.
Meanwhile, after a 61-58 finish the last time they played, Surrattsville and Phelps Architecture, Construction & Engineering decided to play a little more cautiously this time around. Surrattsville's defense stepped up to hand Phelps Architecture, Construction & Engineering a 2-0 shutout on Friday. Despite the victory, that was the fewest points Surrattsville has scored all season.
Chesapeake Math & IT Academy North's win ended a four-game drought on the road and puts them at 10-8. As for Surrattsville, they have been performing well recently as they've won six of their last eight matches, which provided a nice bump to their 11-9 record this season.
