The Lewis Cass Kings were the 61-56 winner over the Wabash Apaches when they last played one another back in March of 2023, but their luck changed this time around. Lewis Cass took a 57-44 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Apaches on Thursday. While losing is never fun, Lewis Cass can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Indiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 303rd, while the Apaches are ranked 143rd).
Lewis Cass' defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Brennan Deeter, who scored 13 points. Bryce Rudd was another key contributor, scoring ten points.
Wabash's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Izaak Wright led the charge by scoring 16 points along with five blocks. Wright has been hot recently, having posted 16 or more points the last three times he's played. Another player making a difference was Trevor Daughtry, who scored 14 points along with two steals.
Lewis Cass are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 5-11. As for Wabash, the victory was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 12-5.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Lewis Cass will take on the Zebras at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday. Rochester has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 259 points over their last four matchups. As for Wabash, they will be playing in front of their home fans against the Eagles at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully Frankton focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 14 on Thursday.
