Cameron is 0-9 against Northwestern since April of 2017 but things could change on Wednesday. The Comets will welcome the Tigers at 4:00 p.m. Cameron is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 9.4 runs per game this season.
Cameron barely beat Chetek-Weyerhaeuser the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Comets were the clear victors by a 14-3 margin over the Bulldogs on Tuesday. The victory continues a trend for the Comets in their matchups with the Bulldogs: they've now won four in a row.
Emerson Krahenbuhl spent all six innings played on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and one unearned) runs on three hits and racked up nine Ks. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Cameron let Brylee Viltz and Grace Dexter run wild. Viltz went a perfect 4-for-4 with three stolen bases, four runs, and three RBI, while Dexter went 3-for-5 with six stolen bases, four RBI, and one run. Those six stolen bases gave Dexter a new career-high. Mallory Duerkop was another key player, getting on base in four of her five plate appearances with one stolen base.
They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Cameron kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Chetek-Weyerhaeuser only managed four hits.
Meanwhile, Northwestern sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 5-3 win over Spooner on Tuesday. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Tigers have posted against the Rails since May 2, 2023.
Ellie Peterson was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She didn't allow a single earned run while striking out 12 over seven innings pitched. Peterson was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with one stolen base, one double, and one RBI. That stolen base was her first of the season.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Claire Nielsen, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI. Lillie Casper also deserves some recognition as she brought in her first RBI of the season.
Northwestern pushed their record up to 6-2 with the win, which was their fourth straight at home. The home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.5 runs over those games. As for Cameron, their win bumped their record up to 7-4.
Cameron suffered a grim 11-0 defeat to Northwestern when the teams last played back in April of 2024. Will the Comets have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check back here after the action for a full breakdown and analysis of the contest.
