The Emmanuel Christian Warriors are taking a road trip to square off against the Whitmer Panthers at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. Whitmer took a loss in their last matchup and will be looking to turn the tables on Emmanuel Christian, who comes in off a win.
Emmanuel Christian came out on top against Ottawa Hills on Tuesday thanks in part to the team's impressive eight-run second inning. The Warriors were the clear victors by a 16-5 margin over the Green Bears. The victory continues a trend for the Warriors in their matchups with the Green Bears: they've now won nine in a row.
Maggie Woodward and Ariella Morris made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, Woodward tossed three innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. Meanwhile, Morris pitched three innings while giving up just two earned (and two unearned) runs off two hits. Woodward has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than one walk any time she's pitched this season. At the plate, Woodward went 1-for-4 with two runs and one RBI, while Morris went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Paris Foster, who got on base in two of her four plate appearances with three stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI. That's the most stolen bases she has posted since back in April of 2025. Alyssa Nichol also deserves some recognition as she snagged her first stolen base of the season.
Emmanuel Christian always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .651. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Ottawa Hills only posted an OBP of .308.
Meanwhile, Whitmer didn't have quite enough to beat Perrysburg on Wednesday and fell 7-6. The Panthers have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Olivia Munoz made the most of her time in the batter's box despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with one home run and one double. The team also got some help courtesy of Marissa Ibarra, who went 1-for-3 with one home run and two RBI.
The win got Emmanuel Christian back to even at 2-2. As for Whitmer, their loss dropped their record down to 4-4.
Whitmer's hitters will have their work cut out for them on Thursday. Emmanuel Christian has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 7.5 strikeouts per game. It's a different story for Whitmer, though, as they've been averaging only 3.9 strikeouts. Will Emmanuel Christian keep running through batters, or will the Panthers buck the trend?
