Ignacio is 1-8 against Pagosa Springs since October of 2015 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Thursday. The Bobcats will challenge the Pirates at 6:00 p.m. Ignacio will be looking to extend their current three-game winning streak.
On Saturday, Ignacio got the win against Nucla by a conclusive 3-0.
While Ignacio won a shutout, things came down to the wire in the third set they played. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-16, 25-17, 25-22.
Meanwhile, Pagosa Springs came up short against Durango last Tuesday, falling 3-0. The Pirates haven't had much luck with the Demons recently, as the team has come up short the last five times they've met.
The defeat didn't mean the game wasn't competitive: Durango scored at least 18 points in every set. The match finished with set scores of 25-18, 25-21, 25-19.
Ignacio will have to keep a close watch on Tatiana Monterroso and Charity Domingo, a pair of players who had a big impact on Pagosa Springs' prior game. Monterroso had 12 digs, while Domingo had ten digs. Amber Snarr also deserves some recognition as she had her first blocks of the season.
Ignacio's victory bumped their record up to 13-3. As for Pagosa Springs, their loss dropped their record down to 2-13.
Here's a few offensive stats to keep an eye on ahead of Thursday's contest: Ignacio hasn't let much over the net this season, having averaged 4.4 blocks per game. It's a different story for Pagosa Springs, though, as they've been averaging only 1.6 blocks. Given Ignacio's sizable advantage in that area, the Pirates will need to find a way to close that gap.
Ignacio suffered a grim 3-0 defeat to Pagosa Springs when the teams last played back in October of 2024. Can the Bobcats avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
