On Thursday, the Parkside Eagles faced the Friendship Tech Prep Academy Titans in a battle between two of the state's top teams. Parkside had to suffer through a rough 76-48 loss at the hands of Friendship Tech Prep Academy. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest loss Parkside has suffered yet this season.
Despite the defeat, Parkside saw an underclassman step up: Kasson James scored 20 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Semaj Marshall, who scored ten points.
Friendship Tech Prep Academy got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was David Bumpass out in front who scored 18 points along with four steals. Bumpass is on a roll when it comes to points, as he's now scored 15 or more in the last three games he's played. Another player making a difference was Daniel Bumpass, who scored 18 points along with three steals.
Parkside's loss dropped their record down to 11-6. As for Friendship Tech Prep Academy, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 9-4.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Parkside will square off against Southern at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday. Hopefully Southern focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 15 on Friday. As for Friendship Tech Prep Academy, they will head out on the road to face off against Glenelg Country at 5:00 p.m. on Saturday. Glenelg Country will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in their respective state's rankings (they are ranked 92nd in Maryland, while Friendship Tech Prep Academy is ranked fifth in District of Columbia).
