The Chatham HomeSchool Thunder waltzed into their matchup on Saturday with five straight wins but they left with six. They snuck past South Wake with a 72-67 win. Having run the score up that high, both teams probably have some extra defensive drills coming up.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Chatham HomeSchool to victory, but perhaps none more so than Jacob Kirby, who scored 21 points along with five rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Kirby has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Zach Johnson, who scored 19 points along with seven rebounds.
When it comes to explaining why South Wake lost, one person who can't be blamed is Ira Wilson. Despite the final result, he dropped a double-double on 18 points and 11 rebounds. Jackson Jones was another key contributor, scoring 12 points.
Chatham HomeSchool is on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight matches, which provided a massive bump to their 18-9 record this season. As for South Wake, their loss dropped their record down to 16-8.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Chatham HomeSchool will challenge St. David's at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. St. David's is coming into the matchup on a six-game losing streak. As for South Wake, South Wake and Grace Christian will face off at 7:30 p.m. on January 30th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. One thing working in Grace Christian's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last eight games.
