Having upended Ridge Point 24-26, 25-21, 26-24, 25-22 in the
UIL Class 6A state championship contest, the 43-7 Jaguars claimed their first girls state volleyball title, earned the No. 15 ranking in
MaxPreps' National Rankings and played their way into the
MaxPreps Xcellent 25 Writers' Poll at No. 19!
Located just 30 miles northwest of Dallas, Flower Mound dropped the first set 24-26, before claiming three tough sets 25-21, 26-24, 25-22. After rallying in sets two and three, kills by Gabby White and Angelique Cyr allowed the Jaguars to break a 21-21 tie in the final set.
MaxPreps and the Texas Army National Guard were on hand to celebrate Jaguar volleyball at a school-wide pep rally. When told that the Jaguars had been ranked in the Top 50 – out of over 20,000 girls volleyball teams nationally – Flower Mound students cheered in excitement. Furthermore, the Jaguars were one of only ten girls volleyball teams across the country to receive the prestigious Army National Guard national ranking trophy.
MaxPreps representative Kayla Ellenwood spoke briefly about the Jaguars on-court accomplishments before introducing Sergeant First Class Robert Reeves of the Texas Army National Guard. SFC Reeves talked a little about hard work, dedication, readiness, perseverance and teamwork, shared character traits of the Army National Guard and a state championship volleyball team. SFC Reeves then presented the prestigious, and elusive, Army National Guard national ranking trophy and a nationally ranked rafter banner to the Jaguars and first year coach Jamie Siegel. Congratulations to Coach Siegel and the Jaguars on your memorable championship season! We look forward to many more!
