Rawlins County is 0-5 against Wichita County since October of 2018 but things could change on Thursday. The Buffaloes will face off against the Indians at 7:00 p.m. The two teams are sauntering into the matchup backed by comfortable wins in their prior games.
Rawlins County took a loss when they played away from home two weeks ago, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Friday. They blew past Hoxie 56-6. With the Buffaloes ahead 50-6 at the half, the game was all but over already.

Austin Chumley was his usual excellent self, rushing for 183 yards and four TDs on only 15 carries. Those 183 rushing yards gave him a new career-high. Tanner Lankas also helped with two scores in total.
They were just one part of a punishing run game: Rawlins County was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 438 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 209 rushing yards every time they've taken the field this season.
Rawlins County didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The team can thank two different players for their defensive prowess: Chumley and Tucker Prideaux, who each picked up one interception apiece.
Meanwhile, Wichita County waltzed into their matchup on Friday with three straight wins... but they left with four. They claimed a resounding 56-6 win over the Railroaders. That's two games straight that the Indians have won by exactly 50 points.
Rawlins County better keep an eye on Cashton Young. He was instrumental in Wichita County's win, rushing for 116 yards and one touchdown on only six carries, while also throwing for 74 yards and one TD on only five passes. Young's longest rush was for an impressive 55 yards, which helps to explain his lofty yards per carry total. Another player making a difference was Dylan Luna, who rushed for 74 yards and one score.
Wichita County's defense made their presence known, laying out Baylor Born four times. The team can thank two different players for their defensive prowess: Beau Porter and Ernesto Zermeno, who each picked up two sacks apiece.
Rawlins County's record is now 5-3. As for Wichita County, their record now sits at 6-2.
Thursday's contest might be decided on the ground. Rawlins County has been unstoppable on the ground this season, having averaged 298.5 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like Wichita County struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 254.9 rushing yards. There's a good chance Thursday's game turns into a tough fight on the ground.
Rawlins County took a serious blow against Wichita County when the teams last played back in November of 2023, falling 66-34. Can the Buffaloes avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
