The Woodcreek Timberwolves will head out on the road to square off against the Inderkum Tigers at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Woodcreek barely beat Vista del Lago the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Timberwolves put the hurt on the Eagles with a sharp 7-1 victory on Monday. The Timberwolves haven't had any issues with the Eagles recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive win against them.
Maddy Macneil was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only two hits while striking out six over seven innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 14 consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with two RBI and one double.
In other batting news, Woodcreek let Camryn Kelley and Chloe Preuss run wild. Kelley went 2-for-5 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double, while Preuss got on base in three of her four plate appearances with two runs and one RBI. That stolen base marked the first that Kelley has snagged this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Aubrey Reddell, who got on base in three of her five plate appearances with one stolen base and one run.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Inderkum). They never let Bella Vista get on the board and left with a 16-0 victory on Monday. The game was the first time the Tigers have beaten the Broncos on their field since March 23, 2023.
Caleya Kitcher and Meilani Pancurak did most of the damage at the plate: Kitcher went a perfect 2-for-2 with five RBI, one stolen base, and one run, while Pancurak went 2-for-4 with four runs, one stolen base, and one RBI. That's the most hits Kitcher has posted since back in March. Another player making a difference was Brielle Collins, who went 3-for-5 with two RBI and one run.
Inderkum always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .579. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their OBP total in four consecutive games.
Woodcreek's record now sits at 12-10. As for Inderkum, their record is now 19-4.
Wednesday's contest will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Woodcreek hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .352. However, it's not like Inderkum struggles in that department as they've averaged .327. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Woodcreek suffered a grim 13-0 defeat to Inderkum in their previous meeting back in March. Can the Timberwolves avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
