The Lincolnton Wolves suffered their biggest loss since December 1, 2023 on Friday. They took a serious blow against Maiden, falling 62-20. Lincolnton has struggled against Maiden recently, as their contest on Friday was their ninth consecutive lost matchup.
Despite the defeat, Lincolnton saw an underclassman step up: Nyla Johnson scored ten points along with two steals.
Perhaps unsurprisingly given the score, Lincolnton struggled to work together and finished the game with only two assists. They were crushed by their opponents in that department as Maiden racked up 12 assists.
Maiden's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Amelia Beal led the charge by scoring 13 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Beal has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Khiara Culliver, who scored nine points along with ten rebounds and four blocks.
Lincolnton has been struggling recently, as they've lost six of their last seven matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-12 record this season. As for Maiden, the victory was the fifth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 8-7.
Lincolnton will head out on the road to square off against West Lincoln at 6:15 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Maiden, they will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against Newton-Conover at 6:30 p.m. Newton-Conover is hoping to put an end to a three-game streak of away losses.
