The Oak Hill Golden Eagles will head out on the road to face off against the Wabash Apaches at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Oak Hill's defense has only allowed 29 points per game this season, so Wabash's offense will have their work cut out for Wabash.
Last Saturday, it was a hard-fought game, but Oak Hill had to settle for a 39-36 loss against Mississinewa.
Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the most dominant came from Liz Godfrey, who scored 11 points. Alexa Myers was another key contributor, scoring eight points.
Meanwhile, Wabash struggled with three-point shooting accuracy on Saturday (Rochester was 22% better) and sadly the final score reflected it. Wabash ended up on the wrong side of a tough 36-14 walloping at the hands of Rochester. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Wabash has scored all season.
Wabash's loss came about despite a quality game from Kaitlynn Honeycutt, who scored eight points along with three steals. Honeycutt is absolutely dominating the steal category: she's posted at least two every time she's taken the court this season.
Perhaps unsurprisingly given the score, Wabash struggled to work together and finished the game with only two assists. That's the fewest assists they've managed all season.
Oak Hill's loss dropped their record down to 7-4. As for Wabash, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 5-5.
Wednesday's game is shaping up to be a masterclass in shooting: Oak Hill have been dynamite from deep this season, having only made 33.5% of their threes per game. However, it's not like Wabash struggles in that department as they've only made 33.9% of their threes per game this season. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.
Oak Hill lost to Wabash on the road by a decisive 45-31 margin in their previous matchup back in December of 2022. Can Oak Hill avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
