Madison Plains is 0-9 against London since January of 2015 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Wednesday. The Madison Plains Golden Eagles will be staying on the road to face off against the London Red Raiders at 6:30 p.m. on December 27th. Given that both teams suffered a loss in their last game, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this contest.
Last Monday, Madison Plains might have been a little too into the holiday spirit, gifting West Liberty-Salem an easy 49-27 victory. While losing is never fun, Madison Plains can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 594th, while West Liberty-Salem is ranked 188th).
Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the most dominant came from Claire Mason, who scored 12 points along with five rebounds. She continues to roll, besting her previous point total in each of the last three games she's played. Kenzie Vallery was another key contributor, scoring five points along with seven rebounds.
Madison Plains struggled to work together and finished the game with only three assists. That's the fewest assists they've managed all season.
Meanwhile, after soaring to 62 points the game before, London were a bit more limited in their match on Wednesday. They were beaten by Urbana 58-21. London was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 32-7.
Madison Plains' loss was their sixth straight on the road dating back to last season, which bumped their record down to 2-6. As for London, their loss dropped their record down to 7-3.
Madison Plains might still be hurting after the 39-19 defeat they got from London in their previous matchup back in December of 2021. Can Madison Plains avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
