If the MaxPreps state rankings hold true, the near future looks bright for Phillipsburg. They will look to defend their home turf on Friday against Franklin at 7:00 PM. Both teams are strolling into their matchup after big wins in their previous games.
Phillipsburg was the big favorite in their most recent match, and for good reason. They were the clear victor with a 35-7 margin. Senior Jack Stagaard, who accumulated 205 passing yards and punched in 1 rushing TD, was a major factor in Phillipsburg's success.
Meanwhile, Franklin had to kick off their season on the road last Thursday, but they showed no ill effects. They put the hurt on South Plainfield with a sharp 28-7 win. The contest was all but wrapped up at the end of the third, by which point Franklin had established a 28-7 advantage.
Their wins lifted both teams to an identical 1-0. After both teams made easy work of their previous opponents, one of them is set up to suffer a discouraging change of fortune.
