Platte Canyon has enjoyed the comforts of home their last two games, but now they'll head out on the road. They will square off against the Bennett Tigers at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. The pair have allowed few points on average, (Platte Canyon: 24.6, Bennett: 29.9) so any points scored will be well earned.
Winning is just a little bit easier when your three-point shooting is a whole 95% better than the opposition, a fact Platte Canyon proved on Saturday. They took their matchup at home with ease, bagging a 37-9 victory over Fort Lupton. That looming 37-9 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for Platte Canyon yet this season.
Liza Lineberry was the offensive standout of the game as she scored nine points along with 11 steals. Sydney Curtis was another key contributor, scoring ten points along with two steals.
Meanwhile, Bennett came tearing into Tuesday's match with four straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 43.8 points) and they left with even more momentum. They came out on top against Arvada by a score of 53-42.
Jessica Venneberg and Lily Venneberg were among the main playmakers for Bennett as the former scored 22 points and the latter scored 25 points. Venneberg has been hot recently, having posted 15 or more points the last five times she's played. Another player making a difference was Raquel Thorpe, who scored six points.
Platte Canyon's win was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 6-2. As for Bennett, their win bumped their record up to 9-1.
This contest is one where the number of possessions is likely to be a big factor: Platte Canyon have been smashing the glass this season, having averaged 33.6 rebounds per game. However, it's not like Bennett struggles in that department as they've been averaging 26.8 rebounds per game. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.
Platte Canyon couldn't quite finish off Bennett in their previous matchup back in January of 2023 and fell 42-39. Can Platte Canyon avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
