After losing to the Chiles Timberwolves the last time they met, the Lincoln Trojans decided to demonstrate that turnabout is fair play. Lincoln walked away with a 46-39 win over Chiles on Friday. Given Lincoln's advantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 234th, while Chiles is ranked 511th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Amari Johnson was the offensive standout of the matchup as she dropped a double-double on 17 points and 15 rebounds. That makes it two consecutive games in which she has scored at least 25% of Lincoln's points. Another player making a difference was Jamiya Brown, who scored 10 points along with 8 rebounds.
Chiles' loss came despite strong showings from Faith Durden and Kaitlyn Fagan. Durden scored 18 points along with 7 rebounds and 3 steals, while Fagan scored 13 points along with 6 rebounds and 4 steals.
Lincoln now has a winning record of 2-1. As for Chiles, they still haven't won a game yet this season and fell to 0-3.
Lincoln will look to defend their home court on Monday against Florida State University High School at 7:30 p.m. Florida State University High School has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games. As for Chiles, they will head out on the road to face off against Munroe at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
