Roy is 0-4 against Bountiful since January of 2018 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Roy Royals will head out on the road to square off against the Bountiful RedHawks at 7:00 p.m. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the two teams will really light up the scoreboard.
Last Wednesday, Roy didn't have too much breathing room in their contest against Woods Cross, but they still walked away with a 55-51 win. The win made it back-to-back wins for Roy.
It was another big night for Bronson Belnap, who scored 21 points along with five steals. Another player making a difference was Daxton Warren, who scored 14 points.
Meanwhile, Bountiful waltzed into their matchup on Wednesday with four straight wins but they left with five. They came out on top against Clearfield by a score of 80-71.
Bountiful's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Carson Smith, who scored 28 points along with five rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Charlie Smith, who scored 19 points along with eight rebounds.
Roy is on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last nine matches, which provided a massive bump to their 8-6 record this season. As for Bountiful, their victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 10-4.
Keep an eye on the arc in Friday's match: Roy have made nailing deep shots look easy this year this season, having only averaged 6 threes per game. However, it's not like Bountiful struggles in that department as they've been averaging only 7.3 threes per game. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.
Roy lost to Bountiful on the road by a decisive 87-68 margin in their previous meeting back in February of 2019. Can Roy avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
