After flying high against the Brocton Bulldogs on Thursday, the Frewsburg Bears came back down to earth. Frewsburg's2023 ended with a 65-50 defeat against Hutchinson-Central Tech on Friday.
When it comes to explaining why Frewsburg lost, one person who can't be blamed is Gavin Smith. Despite the final result, he scored 29 points along with six rebounds and three steals. Smith scored a full 58% of Frewsburg's points, the sixth time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Kenton Dahlin, who scored six points.
Frewsburg's loss ended a four-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 2-4. As for Hutchinson-Central Tech, the win makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 3-1.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Frewsburg will face off against Silver Creek at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Hutchinson-Central Tech, they will head out on the road to face off against Health Sciences Charter at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday.
