AAAAAA Region 6 recap Nov. 7, 2012
Alpharetta extended the longest winning streak in AAAAAA Region 6 this week by beating Centennial, 41-23. The win marks fifth in a row for the the Raiders.
West Forsyth took down South Forsyth 56-14 last week, the largest margin of any game. A.J. Erdely threw for 408 yards and three touchdowns in the win.
Jake Wieczorek was the best wideout in the league this week as the Wolverines bested the War Eagles. Wieczorek racked up six receptions for 276 yards. Ty Anderson helped West Forsyth's passing attack out by catching five balls for 71 yards.
Chase Solomon was the most productive running back in the league this week. He ran for 156 yards on 19 carries as Johns Creek beat South Forsyth. Teammate Jack Deweese added to the ground attack by rushing for 63 yards.
Ryan Guthrie made the biggest impact on defense this week as the Wolverines defeated the War Eagles. The 5-foot-11 sophomore grabbed one interception.
The Knights' Chase Rosenberg and Christian Robinson have formed a dynamic duo this season, leading AAAAAA Region 6 in both passing and receiving yards. Rosenberg has thrown for 1946 yards this season, while Robinson, a 5-foot-11 receiver, has 63 catches for 928 yards. The Gladiators' Solomon leads the league in rushing yards with 862.
Going into this week's game against Chattahoochee, Centennial's Rosenberg needs 54 passing yards to surpass 2,000 on the season.
Jeff Carlberg's team's Robinson is only 72 receiving yards away from breaking 1,000 receiving yards this season as he enters this week's game against the the Cougars.
A big matchup in the league this week will be when Johns Creek takes on Alpharetta. At the moment, the Gladiators are in second, while the Raiders are in fourth.
Chattahoochee made the biggest jump in the national rankings this week, rising to 1,314 from 1,619. The advance stemmed from a 48-14 victory over Lambert last week.
