Basketball Recap: Wesley Robertson's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Illini West over Macomb

After flying high against Illini Bluffs last Friday, Illini West came back down to earth. The Chargers fell 48-44 to the Macomb Bombers on Wednesday. The game marked the Chargers' lowest-scoring contest so far this season.

Several Chargers players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Wesley Robertson, who almost dropped a double-double with nine points and nine rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Grady Blue, who posted eight points and four steals.

Illini West moved to 3-2 with that loss, which also ended their three-game winning streak. As for Macomb, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record up to 4-1.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Illini West will host Monroe City at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Macomb, they will square off against Quincy Notre Dame at 6:30 p.m. on Saturday.
