Huntington North got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Lathen Janes out in front who threw for 220 yards and four touchdowns, and also rushed for 39 yards. Janes' passing game has become a key predictor of the Vikings' success: the team is 3-1 when his passer rating is 100 or higher, but only 1-4 otherwise. Huntington North's leading receiver James Linker was Janes' top target yet again, picking up 130 receiving yards and a pair of TDs.
They were just one part of a punishing run game: Huntington North was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 406 rushing yards. That's the most rushing yards they've posted since the start of last season.
Huntington North didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Rhett Holzinger and Mason Ptak.
Despite a strong season so far, Logansport has seen their luck take a bit of a downturn recently. They were a single point away from ending the streak, but they lost a 36-35 heartbreaker at the hands of Rensselaer Central. That's two games in a row now that the Berries have lost by just one point.
The win made it two in a row for Huntington North and bumps their season record up to 4-5. The victories came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 20 points in those games. As for Logansport, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-3.
Friday's contest might be decided on the ground. Huntington North has been excellent on the ground this season, having averaged 163.4 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like Logansport struggles in that department as they've been averaging 268.2 rushing yards. There's a good chance Friday's matchup turns into a tough fight on the ground.
