The Bonanza Bengals will challenge the Rancho Rams at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Bonanza has given up an average of 6.7 runs per game this season, but Wednesday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.
Bonanza is headed into Wednesday's contest looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their fourth straight games on Tuesday. They came up short against Durango, falling 14-4.
John Willard was cooking despite his team's loss, going 2-for-3 with one home run, two RBI, and one double. That home run was his first of the season.
Meanwhile, Rancho earned a 4-1 win over Eldorado on Tuesday.
Johnny Ramos was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He struck out ten batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits (and not a single walk). He also tossed no walks, which is notable because Rancho is 4-2 when he allows at most one walk, but 5-11 otherwise. Ramos was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-4 with one run, one double, and one RBI.
In other batting news, Mayson Bumstead was excellent, going 1-for-3 with one triple, one stolen base, and one run. Aiden Pineda was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one triple.
Rancho kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. They are a perfect 3-0 when they post 11 or more hits.
Rancho is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four games. That's provided a massive bump to their 9-13 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.3 runs on average over those games. As for Bonanza, their defeat dropped their record down to 9-16-2.
Everything went Bonanza's way against Rancho when the teams last played back in May of 2025, as Bonanza made off with a 13-5 win. Do the Bengals have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Rams turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
