After four games on the road, Lewiston is heading back home. They will take on the Johnson-Brock Eagles at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Lewiston comes in on a streak of failing to score more than 22 points in their last 12 games, a trend the team is of course eager to reverse.
Lewiston suffered their biggest defeat since December 9, 2023 on Monday. They were outmatched by Parkview Christian on the road and fell 47-17. Lewiston has not had much luck with Parkview Christian recently, as the team's come up short the last four times they've met.
Despite the defeat, Lewiston saw an underclassman step up: Justice Currie scored seven points along with seven steals and six rebounds. Currie is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last three games she's played.
Even though they lost, Lewiston smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 18 offensive rebounds. That's the most offensive rebounds they've managed all season.
Meanwhile, Johnson-Brock came tearing into Wednesday's matchup with ten straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 27.2 points) and they left with even more momentum. They breezed by Tri County on the road to the tune of 60-25. Johnson-Brock has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won nine matches by 20 points or more this season.
Johnson-Brock's success was spearheaded by the efforts of Brooklyn Behrends, who scored 15 points along with six rebounds and two steals, and Taryn Ottemann, who dropped a double-double on 25 points and 12 rebounds. Behrends hasn't dropped below two steals for ten straight games. Natalie Knippelmeyer was another key contributor, scoring four points along with nine rebounds and two steals.
Lewiston bumped their record down to 0-12 with that defeat, which was their eighth straight on the road dating back to last season. As for Johnson-Brock, their victory bumped their record up to 11-1.
This contest is one where the number of possessions is likely to be a big factor: Lewiston have been smashing the glass this season, having only averaged 16.9 rebounds per game. However, it's not like Johnson-Brock struggles in that department as they've been averaging only 29.6 rebounds per game. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.
