There's no place like home for the Richfield Wildcats, who bounced back after a tough loss on the road last Friday. They secured a 52-47 W over Manti on Wednesday. That's another feather in the cap for Richfield, who also won these teams' last head-to-head.
Leading Richfield to victory were Miles Barnett and Jorgen Southwick. Barnett scored 13 points along with three steals, while Southwick scored 13 points along with seven rebounds and three blocks. The team also got some help courtesy of Gage Yardley, who scored 12 points along with three steals.
Loss or not, Manti got some senior leadership from Reggie Frischknecht and Austin Thomas. Frischknecht dropped a double-double on ten points and ten rebounds, while Thomas. scored 11 points. Frischknecht hasn't dropped below eight rebounds for 13 straight games. Another player making a difference was Jessen Barton, who scored nine points.
Richfield has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight matchups, which provided a massive bump to their 11-6 record this season. As for Manti, their loss ended a four-game streak of away wins and brought them to 14-5.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Richfield will take on Emery at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Utah (Emery is ranked 46th, while Richfield is ranked 44th). As for Manti, they will head out on the road to take on Canyon View at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in Canyon View's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last three games.
