North Central Missouri recap Sept. 26, 2012
Kesley Callaway of Boonville ran for the longest rushing play in North Central Missouri this season against Mexico last week. Callaway's team defeated the Bulldogs as he sprinted for 84 yards on the play and finished with 282 in all.
Marshall moved up to 133 from 202 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in the league. The Owls climbed the ranks as a result of a 45-14 win over Fulton.
The Hornets' dynamic duo of Joe Schlemeier and Randall Cole proved tough for Marshall to stop, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Schlemeier threw for 151 yards and one touchdown and Cole had 103 yards receiving. Chris Tilson helped Fulton's passing attack out by catching one ball for 21 yards.
Fulton's Schlemeier and Cole have formed a dynamic duo this season, leading the league in both passing and receiving yards. Schlemeier has thrown for 587 yards this season, while Cole, a 5-foot-8 receiver, has 22 catches for 347 yards. Boonville's Callaway leads the league in rushing yards with 498.
A big matchup in North Central Missouri this week will be when Moberly takes on the Owls. The Spartans are in second place, while Marshall is in third place.
There should be lots of points scored when Kirksville and Devin Brown's team face off this week. The top two offenses in the league, the Tigers comes in having scored 77 this season, while the Pirates have scored 80. Kirksville scored 0 points last week as it lost to Hannibal.
The Pirates extended the longest winning streak in the league this week by beating Jeff Jacques's team, 48-0. The victory was the fifth in a row for the team.
