The Samueli Academy Firewolves are taking a road trip to challenge the Webb Gauls at 3:15 p.m. on Thursday. One thing working in Samueli Academy's favor is that they have posted at least ten runs in their last five matchups.
On Friday, Samueli Academy made easy work of Vista Meridian and carried off a 21-6 win.

Melina Castro was a standout: she went a perfect 1-for-1 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. She has been hot recently, having posted three or more RBI the last three times she's played. Another player making a difference was Bella Alvarado, who got on base in all four of her plate appearances with four runs, two RBI, and one double.
Samueli Academy always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .697. That was just more of the same: they've now posted an OBP of .548 or higher in five consecutive contests.
Meanwhile, Webb got the win against Vista Meridian on Tuesday by a conclusive 22-8. The victory continues a trend for the Gauls in their matchups with the Meridian Eagles: they've now won four in a row.
Webb got a massive performance out of Kate Cook, who went 3-for-4 with one home run, four runs, and five RBI. That home run marked the first that Cook has launched this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Kristina Base, who got on base in all five of her plate appearances with one home run, four stolen bases, and three runs.
Webb now has a winning record of 5-4. As for Samueli Academy, their record is now 7-12.
Thursday's game might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Samueli Academy has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .462. However, it's not like Webb struggles in that department as they've averaged .542. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Samueli Academy got the 'W' when the teams last played two weeks ago against Webb by a conclusive 18-8 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Firewolves since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
