The Belen Eagles lost against the St. Pius X Sartans back in January, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. Belen was outmatched by St. Pius X at home and fell 64-35. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Belen in their matchups with St. Pius X: they've now lost eight in a row.
Belen's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Analeigha Wright, who scored ten points. Jaelynn Bob was another key contributor, scoring nine points.
Belen has traveled a rocky road recently having lost eight of their last ten matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 8-14 record this season. As for St. Pius X, the victory was the 14th in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 19-3.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Belen will challenge Highland at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. St. Pius X is on the road again on Tuesday and plays Grants at 7:00 p.m. on February 13th. The timing isn't great for Grants: they have been struggling with five straight losses at home, while St. Pius X has snatched up six consecutive wins on the road.
