Regional host assignments were tough to come by for Pikes Peak region teams as the baseball postseason field was announced Wednesday.
Only No. 6 Falcon and No. 7 Lewis-Palmer in 4A and No. 4 Peyton in 2A earned a top-8 seed and the right to host a four-team, single-elimination regional.
All other 12 teams from the Pikes Peak region will need to earn two wins away from home to advance to the eight-team state tournament.
In 3A, No. 9 Manitou Springs and No. 10 The Classical Academy were the last two teams out of contention for a host spot.
Play at some regionals will begin Friday, while others start Saturday.
