The Englewood Pirates suffered their biggest loss since November 30, 2023 on Thursday. They had to suffer through a rough 75-46 loss at the hands of DSST: Montview. While losing is never fun, Englewood can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Colorado basketball rankings (they are ranked 251st, while DSST: Montview is ranked 44th).
Soren Singer and Dominic Dever certainly did their best on Thursday to try and avoid the loss. Singer scored 26 points along with seven rebounds and six steals, while Dever scored 13 points along with three steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Singer has scored all season.
DSST: Montview's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Tara Majok, who scored 16 points along with six rebounds and three steals. Another player making a difference was Emerson Bowen, who scored nine points along with eight steals and six rebounds.
This is the second loss in a row for Englewood and nudges their season record down to 2-9. As for DSST: Montview, the victory was the ninth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 9-1.
Englewood will head out on the road to challenge Bennett at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Allowing an average of 51.2 points per game, Bennett has struggled on the defensive end, but that doesn't have to be the case in this contest. As for DSST: Montview, they will be playing at home against Far Northeast W at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. Far Northeast W is still on the hunt for that elusive first 'W'.
