The Casa Grande Cougars pushed their score all the way to 56 on Thursday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They took a 67-56 hit to the loss column at the hands of Mountain Pointe. Casa Grande has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Casa Grande's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Aveon Williams, who scored 21 points along with four steals. That was a full 37.5% of Casa Grande's points, marking the fourth time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Tayven Williams, who scored 15 points along with two steals.
Casa Grande dropped their record down to 6-12 with that loss, which was their ninth straight on the road. As for Mountain Pointe, their victory ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 2-12.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Casa Grande will take on Higley at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Higley is coming into the matchup hot, having won their last three games. As for Mountain Pointe, their homestand continues as they prepare to take on Campo Verde at 7:00 p.m. on January 19th.
