The Lake Mary Rams are on the road again on Friday and play against the Mainland Buccaneers at 7:00 p.m. on November 3rd. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Florida (Lake Mary is ranked eighth, while Mainland is ranked 12th).
Lake Mary started off well but failed to capitalize on an early lead against Seminole. They and the Seminoles were almost perfectly matched up on Friday, but they suffered an agonizing 29-28 loss. The game was a 14-14 toss-up at halftime, but Lake Mary was just barely outscored by Seminole in the second.
The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Noah Grubbs, who threw for 265 yards and three touchdowns while picking up 10.6 yards per attempt. Grubbs hasn't dropped below three passing touchdowns for four straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Caden Harshbarger, who picked up 132 receiving yards and a touchdown.
Meanwhile, Mainland put another one in the bag on Friday to keep their perfect season alive. They blew past Seabreeze, posting a 48-14 win on the road. Considering Mainland has won six matches by more than 21 points this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.
Lake Mary's loss dropped their record down to 8-1. As for Mainland, their victory was their seventh straight on the road (dating back to last season), which bumped their overall record up to 9-0.
Lake Mary didn't have too much breathing room in their matchup against Mainland when the teams last played back in November of 2022, but they still walked away with a 20-14 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for Lake Mary since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
