The Roosevelt Rough Riders will head out on the road to square off against the Madera South Stallions at 3:30 p.m. on Friday. Roosevelt's pitching crew has only allowed 4.1 runs per game this season, so Madera South's hitters will have their work cut out for them.
Roosevelt was handed a nine-run loss in their previous outing, but that didn't affect their clutch gene on Tuesday. They skirted past Sunnyside 3-2.
David Meza spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned (and one unearned) run on three hits and racked up eight Ks. That's the most strikeouts he has posted over his last six matches.

At the plate, Leonardo Gonzales-Sanchez was excellent, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two doubles and one RBI. Those three hits gave him a new career-high. Manny Molano was another key player, scoring a run and stealing two bases while going 1-for-3.
Meanwhile, Madera South came into Tuesday's contest having lost seven straight, but that streak is now in the rearview. They were the clear victors by an 8-1 margin over Torres on Tuesday. The Stallions' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.
David Moles made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he pitched seven innings while giving up just one earned run off five hits. Moles was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with one triple, one run, and one RBI. That RBI was his first of the season.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Jeremiah Montes, who scored three runs and stole two bases while going 3-for-3. He also put up a triple, which was his first of the season. Another player making a difference was Knox Flores, who went 3-for-4 with four RBI and one double.
Madera South's victory was their first in the league, bumping their league record up to 1-3 and their overall record up to 2-8. As for Roosevelt, their win was their first in the league, bumping their league record up to 1-3 and their overall record up to 10-4-1.
Roosevelt was able to grind out a solid victory over Madera South in their previous matchup back in April of 2024, winning 6-3. The rematch might be a little tougher for Roosevelt since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
