Twin Lakes is 9-1 against Rensselaer Central since April of 2019 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Saturday. The Indians will be playing in front of their home fans against the Bombers at 10:00 a.m. The two teams are sauntering into the matchup backed by comfortable wins in their prior games.
On Friday, Twin Lakes got the win against Caston by a conclusive 15-5. That's two games straight that the Indians have won by exactly ten runs.
Myley Spriggs spent all six innings played on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered four earned (and one unearned) runs on four hits and racked up 11 Ks.
At the plate, Leah Shrock was incredible, going 3-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and three RBI. She also put up two doubles, which were her first of the season. Another player making a difference was Miya Clerget, who went 3-for-4 with three runs, two RBI, and one double.
They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Twin Lakes kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 15 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least 12 hits in three consecutive matchups.
Meanwhile, Rensselaer Central hadn't done well against Benton Central recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. The Bombers put the hurt on the Bison with a sharp 15-4 win. That 11 run margin sets a new team best for the Bombers this season.
Kali Northcutt made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, pitching six innings while giving up four earned runs off nine hits. Northcutt was even better at the plate, going 3-for-4 with seven RBI and one double. Those seven RBI gave her a new career-high.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Brynn Hannon, who went 3-for-5 with two stolen bases, three runs, and three RBI. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in April of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Kylie Spencer, who got on base in all five of her plate appearances with three runs.
Twin Lakes' victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 3-6. Those home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 14.3 runs over those games. As for Rensselaer Central, they now have a winning record of 3-2.
Saturday's game will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Twin Lakes hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .319. However, it's not like Rensselaer Central struggles in that department as they've averaged .407. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
