The Orange Beach Makos will face off against the Northview Chiefs at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Orange Beach is currently enjoying a perfect season and no doubt wants to keep things rolling.
Orange Beach is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another highly-ranked state team: George County, who was ranked sixth in their home state at the time (Orange Beach was ranked first). The Makos never let the Rebels get on the board and left with a 5-0 victory on Friday.
MK McMullan made a splash while hitting and pitching. She didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out nine over seven innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up a single earned run in 14 consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, two RBI, and one double.
In other batting news, Teagan Revette was incredible, going 2-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI.
Orange Beach lost a few balls and finished the game with two home runs. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now launched at least two home runs in six consecutive contests.
Northview hadn't beaten Milton on the road since February 5, 2018 but that history sure didn't bother them on Friday. The Chiefs came out on top against the Panthers by a score of 4-0.
Milton's batters probably weren't too happy with Mikayla McAnally, who pitched a no hitter and racked up eight Ks (she gave up zero walks).
On the hitting side, Northview's win was truly a team effort as five different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Aubrey Hadley, who went 2-for-3 with one run and one RBI. That's the most hits Hadley has posted since back in February. Riley Brooks was another, going 1-for-3 with two stolen bases and one run.
Orange Beach's victory bumped their record up to 20-0. As for Northview, their win bumped their record up to 10-4.
Fans could be in store for some top-tier slugging on Tuesday. Orange Beach hasn't had any problems when it comes to power this season, having averaged 1.8 home runs per game. However, it's not like Northview struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 0.7 home runs. With so much power on both teams, it'll be down to the pitchers to keep the mound locked down.
Everything went Orange Beach's way against Northview in their previous meeting back in February, as Orange Beach made off with a 10-2 victory. Do the Makos have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Chiefs turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
