The School for Entrepreneurship & Technology Lions scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Wednesday. They snuck past Coastal Academy with a 41-36 victory. The victory was some much needed relief for School for Entrepreneurship & Technology as it spelled an end to their three-game losing streak.
School for Entrepreneurship & Technology was led to victory by Syra Ilacqua and Kameron Owens. Ilacqua scored 16 points, while Owens scored 15 points along with six rebounds and four steals. That makes it four consecutive games in which Owens has scored at least a third of School for Entrepreneurship & Technology's points. Another player making a difference was Jannat Assiaban, who scored four points.
Coastal Academy's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Heiress Afalava, who dropped a double-double on 20 points and 17 rebounds, and London Afalava who dropped a double-double on ten points and 13 rebounds. Afalava is absolutely dominating the rebound category: she's posted at least eight every time she's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Lorelai Smith, who scored no points along with six steals and five assists.
Even though they lost, Coastal Academy were working as a unit and finished the game with 14 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as School for Entrepreneurship & Technology only posted two assists.
School for Entrepreneurship & Technology's victory bumped their record up to 3-8. As for Coastal Academy, their loss dropped their record down to 6-5.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. School for Entrepreneurship & Technology will take on Ocean View Christian at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Coastal Academy, they will be playing at home against King-Chavez Community at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
